About VolksDevil.com
When it began
In 1996 I was at a local car meet where the typical 'boy racer' types gathered amongst the odd classic
car enthusiast, when I saw a Volkswagen golf Mk1 driver with no modifications what so ever, the shape and 'modern
classic' looks grabbed my attention straight away and I wanted one...Badly.
It wasn't long before I purchased a 1983 Mk1 golf gti in mars red, totally standard and original. I do
still own it to this day although its currently a bare shell awaiting rebuild.
I have since owned a few cars from the VAG range, a concours mk1 golf gti, early mk2 golf gti, mk3 golf
gti, mk2 Jetta, a sportline cabriolet mk1 and corrado's to name a few.
I currently own
A777OVL - Mk1 golf gti, and
J443ORP - Corrado G60
I always struggled along in the world of the vehicle
enthusiast and managed the best I could... I never had
masses of cash to throw at cars, and always had to carry out
all of the maintenance and modifications my self. Though I
always enjoyed doing a 'Propper job' anyway. Im sure many
can appreciate where I'm coming from.
How and why it began
I started VolksDevil after having been a member of
various other Volkswagen forums for a good few years.
Initially it was born out of an interest in web design so
a new fan site
Volksdevil.com
was created along with
Volksdevil.com/forum.
After seeing the immense quality of Volkswagen show cars,
and often reading about them on the forums, I found that I
felt a little out of place where people tended to only reply
to and advise those that spent big money on their
Volkswagens.
This rising quality of show cars and the cash involved has a down side.
It's that the grass roots
enthusiasts/modifiers often get forgotten. These 'people' are
enthusiasts too, they are just as and often more enthusiastic and
passionate than the average big spender. They often dedicate more
time, doing more of their own modifications and coming up with some
great idea's too.
We can all appreciate a 'show car' but lets not forget those
'people' that have masses of enthusiasm but not always the wallet to
assist it. I will leave this page with...
The VolksDevil motto.
"Be a big part of the community, Not a small part of the
scene"
